THE CITY NEARS COMPLETION

i am 99% done with the city for the storyboard. this is a current visual on the city. color wise, it is not final

With the reference for TOTL's city layout in mind, i chose to have higher LOD (level of detail) closer to the route Mil takes in the film and lower LOD in the background. optimization is optimal.

this is the current layout of the city. subject to change. i am keeping the "hero streets" with a very high level of detail, and you can tell what we have mapped out for it

This is the route map to help other people and me working on this project. Mil goes from the vendor street, through the alleys, and finally to his warehouse.

currently, the city is running at 3 million faces. that will change. addition of pipes and other beams to choke the even skyline adds more of the dystopian look we aim for

main shot showing the city layout. purple signs will be replaced with graphics demonstrated in a previous blogpost. i want to infect this city with harsh unwelcome neon signs, plagued by advertisements and chemical blues, yellows, and pinks. I want you to feel unwelcome. this is an unwelcome city. Smog and Capital frack its cultural foundation. Metal is the skeleton of this industry city, and oil, fat, and grease are its ichor. This will not be a pleasant place to look at, until we get to Mil's garden.

After deliberation, we are adding a sub-level of roads and buildings underneath this, so Mil has more room to run from the Crawlers, and that way we have a more sci-fi feel to the city without it going overboard. we can play with the lights with even more splendor down there, the tight roads and alleys will add a good sense of tension to the chase scenes

the vendor streets will have more unique buildings as time goes on, but i will use the "bodega model" as the stand in. the factory has not been made, as it is more of a background prop for the time being
